<description>A mystery I really enjoyed was &quot;Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter,&quot; by Blaize Clement.

<description>The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World (2007) by Alan Greenspan
I found this book very interesting to read. One theme in the book is his recognition of the conflict between his position on libertarianism and free-markets on one hand and his role in government, especially as Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank, on the other. He was aware of the contradiction but not wise enough to reconcile it.

Hard-Boiled: an Anthology of American Crime Stories (1995) edited by Bill Pronzini and Jack Adrian.
This was a pleasant discover of a literary genre with which I was unfamiliar. It introduced to me authors whom I did not know (e.g., Norbert Davis) and gave me an appreciation of authors of whom I had heard but had not read (e.g., Erle Stanley Gardner). I subsequently checked out from the library several books written by authors whom I discovered in this one.

The Mapmaker&#039;s Wife: a True Tale of Love, Murder, and Survival in the Amazon (2004) by Robert Whitaker.
What an incredible story! After reading this book, one will always think of it as the Amazon jungle, not the Amazon rain forest.

<description>As I discussed in a previous blog post, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell was the best book I read (or listened to) this year. It was engaging and pulled you in to a magical alternative England full of magic and magical history.
