DCPLive is a blog by librarians at the DeKalb County Public Library!
Do you know what these books have in common?

These books were the most frequently challenged books of 2007. If you are curious about why the books were challenged, how the list was compiled or want more information on challenged books and authors, check out ALA’s Frequently Challenged Books.

What’s my favorite banned book? Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell is one of my all time favorites.

There was a great story on NPR this morning about BBW and the burning of “The Grapes of Wrath,” and included this quote:

“It’s such a vicious and dangerous thing to begin. … Besides, banning books is so utterly hopeless and futile. Ideas don’t die because a book is forbidden reading.”
