I checked out a few crochet dvds from the library that were very helpful. I Can’t Believe I’m Crocheting!, Crochet Stitches in Motion, and Crochet Fashions in Motion. I learned patterns for a drawstring bag, two scarves and I’m working on a hat. You can also learn to crochet in the Creative Expressions Crochet Group or refresh your skills. It’s great!

There are also crocheting and knitting groups held at the library. The Creative Expressions Crocheting Group meets every second Saturday from 10am to noon at the Covington Library. The Knitting Circle meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month at 1pm at the Scott Candler Library. Check the library’s events calendar for full details.

Crocheting is one of the skills my grandmother taught me. It’s like riding a bicycle–no matter how long I stay away, I never forget how to do it. I’d love to teach someone. My teenage boys are just not interested!

When I saw the book Creepy cute crochet : zombies, ninjas, robots, and more! by Christen Haden, I wanted to try again to learn to crochet. My grandmother tried to teach me once, but I only learned how to make a long chain...and that's been 30 years ago, so I've forgotten how to do that!
