Bring out yer books!

by Heather O

Library book sales are not only a great way to add to your home library, but you can support your local library at the same time. Sales are sponsored by the Friends of the Library (Friends also get first look at the sales!) and the proceeds add to and support library programs.

Let’s talk donations:

Some items in our sale have been withdrawn from branch collections. Often these are spare copies of past bestsellers, books that have been slightly damaged or worn, or titles that are no longer in heavy demand. Many of our book sale items are donations from patron and visitor alike. Any book donated to the Library which is not placed in the library’s collection, plus books donated specifically for book sales, are made available to the public at Friends of the Library book sales.

WesleyChapelAll branches that have book sales or year-round sale tables would love your books in good condition. If you have a good amount of them; please call your branch ahead of time so we can help bring everything in faster!

Many branches also take movies, music, or books on CD/tape such as: Decatur, Briarcliff, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Clarkston, Covington, Doraville, Dunwoody, Flat Shoals, Lithonia, Redan, Stone Mountain, Tucker, and Wesley-Chapel.

These branches will also accept magazines for their sales: Covington, Redan, Dunwoody, and Wesley-Chapel.

Any questions: call your local branch to see if they will accept something; I’ve seen vinyl in some book sales before and I’ve seen nice children’s toys cleaned up and happily played with in the children’s area.

Normally Northlake and Salem-Panola both have year-round book sale tables; but as they are closing this year for expansion and renovation they will not accept donations at this time.

Further information about DCPL book sales and upcoming dates can be found through the main DCPL website.
